During MIT’s commencement, Class of 2025 president Megha Vemuri delivered a pro-Palestinian speech, criticizing the university’s connections to Israel and urging graduates to take action. Wearing a keffiyeh, she highlighted MIT’s research ties with the Israeli military and the destruction of Gaza’s educational infrastructure. Vemuri called on graduates to oppose MIT’s complicity in what she termed the “ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.”
