A sample may look perfect when inspected by hand, but its real performance only becomes clear after it is fused to the intended fashion fabric. This is particularly important because different outer fabrics react differently to heat, pressure and adhesive coatings. Before approving a bulk order, manufacturers should test the interlining on their actual production fabric and check the bond after cooling. Washing or dry-cleaning the test piece can provide additional insight into long-term performance.
This approach also helps manufacturers compare fusible interlining suppliers on more than price. A supplier may offer an attractive quotation, but if the material requires different press settings or loses adhesion after cleaning, the apparent saving quickly disappears. For factories producing structured garments, selecting the correct interlining for suit manufacturer applications requires attention to GSM, construction, adhesive distribution and hand-feel. A small trial order followed by full-scale procurement is often a much safer approach than moving directly from a catalogue specification to thousands of metres.
